The statutory commitment of the Brazilian Bar Association to defend the democratic State of Law and to citizenship and Justice is renewed, as well as strengthened in each and every National Conference – a highlight of its events calendar.
Since its origin, in 1958, the Conferences have become a reference, not only to Advocacy, but also to civil society and political institutions of the State. At these conferences, subjects that are vital to public interest are debated. Besides corporative matters, likewise important, the country’s social-political situation is discussed, always searching for direct ways to overcome the challenges of the present time.
At this XX National Conference, in Natal, the main subject is the application, effectiveness and changing role of the 1988 Federal Constitution, which has reached 20 years of existence and therefore generates wide controversy, from those who defend it with passion to those who defend its revocation through a new National Constitutional Convention – whether fully or partially.
Once again, advocacy responds to the challenge of thinking and debating about Brazil without any subterfuges or partiality, with the only goal to contribute to improvement and effectiveness of the republican desire.
